CHRISTIANITY AND THE MEDIEVAL WORLD
OMNIBUS II

Foundational literature for the modern student

Available in 2023-2024

Omnibus II, for 7th through 9th graders, is the third text in the first cycle of the Omnibus curriculum from the publisher Veritas Press. This course takes students through the study of the great works of the Medieval World, beginning with the great Saint Augustine and ending with the Protestant Reformers. Readings and discussions are based on history and theology of the Medieval era, and the literature is largely taken from the same period. Through an integrative approach, students are helped to appreciate the unity of all knowledge. All the material is taught with a Biblical worldview, so this course also places an important emphasis on exploring ideas rather than simply gathering information.

Along with guided activities in the Omnibus II Student Text, students read primary masterworks and secondary titles that correlate with the period. "Primary" books are key source materials, which  are essential for understanding the period. "Secondary" literature adds richness and depth to the study.

As in all levels of the Omnibus, daily readings, assignments, and other activities lead students to interact with the greatest works of Western Civilization in a challenging, enjoyable, and profitable way. Students also apply and further develop their skills in composition, logic, and aesthetics. While the Omnibus V Student Text leads the student through the masterworks of classical antiquity, students also read various secondary titles that correlate with our study of the period.
